Support

Ultimate Diary — help, contact, and the answers people ask for most.

Email: support@deardiarys.com

We answer within 15 business days, usually much sooner. Telling us your account email, your iPhone model and iOS version in the first message saves a round trip.

Account and sign-in

I didn't get my verification code

Check your spam folder first — that is where it usually is. Codes are sent from noreply@deardiarys.com, so allowing that address helps.

If nothing arrives after a few minutes, request a new code. If the second one doesn't arrive either, write to us with the email address you signed up with.

I forgot my password

Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen. The reset link goes to your account email and expires, so use it soon after it arrives.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: profile menu → Delete Account.

This permanently erases your account along with every book, entry, photo, to-do, birthday and calendar item you own. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it for you afterwards. Export anything you want to keep first.

Leaving a book someone shared with you is different — it removes only your own access and leaves the book itself untouched.

Subscriptions

How do I cancel Diary Pro?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us, so cancelling happens in iOS:

Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Ultimate Diary → Cancel Subscription

Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, otherwise it renews. Pro features remain available until the period you have already paid for runs out.

I was charged but Pro isn't active

Open the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases. If that doesn't help, write to us — include the Apple ID email used for the purchase.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are issued by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your entries

I deleted an entry by mistake

Deleted entries go to the trash and stay there for 30 days before they are removed permanently. Recover it from the trash within that window.

Who can read what I write?

Entry bodies are encrypted on your device with a key held per book, so the server stores only ciphertext.

Titles, tags, place names, coordinates and photos are not encrypted. If something is sensitive, write it in the body rather than the title. Section 3 of the privacy policy is explicit about this boundary.

Someone shared a book with me — what can they see?

Everything in that book: bodies, photos, titles and places. Removing a member ends their future access but cannot recall what they have already read or saved.

Where is my data stored?

Two independent deployments, chosen by your region:

You are in Your data lives in
Mainland China Hong Kong SAR
Everywhere else United States (Oregon)

Accounts and data are entirely separate between the two and do not sync. An account created on one does not exist on the other.

Permissions

All of them are optional, and the related feature is the only thing that stops working if you decline:
